Participation of the National Historical Archives of Belarus in the Document Exhibition

August 2, 2024. The National Historical Archives of Belarus, together with the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, took part in the documentary exhibition «State Control: Through the Pages of History» as part of a ceremonial event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus. The event took place in the Minsk Congress Hall (18 Kirov St.).

The National Historical Archives of Belarus presented documents from the 19th – early 20th centuries at the exhibition, reflecting the activities of the Minsk and Vitebsk Control Chambers on the territory of Belarus. The oldest document dates back to January 5, 1866. This is the temporary Regulation on local control bodies, approved by Emperor Alexander II. Among the presented documents are materials on audits of the financial activities of various organizations in the Belarusian provinces, minutes of meetings of control chambers, personal files of employees, the text of the oath («sworn promise») of the inspector of the Vitebsk Control Chamber Ya.S. Verishko (1897) and materials on the abolition of control chambers in 1918 and the creation of Soviet state control bodies.

The head of the department of scientific research and publication activities Sergei Ryndin told the guests of the event about the documents of the pre-revolutionary period. The materials were selected by the leading researcher of the department of use of documents and information of the NIA of Belarus Vladimir Denisov.
