Events within the framework of «Archives for School» in the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region»
On August 2, 2024, the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» as part of the action «Archives for School» opened its doors to students of grades 8-9 of the educational institution «Secondary School No.15 of Gomel», who actively spend their holidays in the school labor and recreation camp «Pchelki».
The students were met by the head of the department of information, publication and use of documents Zoya Aleksandrovich, who told the schoolchildren about the history of the archive, its main areas of activity. The children got acquainted with the documentary exhibition «Unconquered Gomel Region», prepared for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Gomel from the Nazi invaders.
Then the children had a lesson dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and were shown the documentary film «Liberation» as part of the project «Open Film Archive. We Brought This Day Closer as We Could», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
In addition, as part of this event, the schoolchildren were given a tour of the archive storage, during which the archivist of the 2nd quarter of the cat. of the department of accounting and ensuring the safety of documents Victoria Rudenko introduced the children to the basic conditions for the permanent storage of documents.
The children showed a keen interest in the archive, asked many questions and expressed a desire to continue working with archival documents.
