Open Day at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus
On June 7, 2024, as part of events dedicated to the International Day of Archives, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus opened its doors to everyone who wanted to get acquainted with its activities. On this day, the archive held a number of events.
A sightseeing tour was organized, during which a researcher at the Department for the Use of Documents and Information, Yu.S. Prostakova, spoke about the history of the archive, the composition and features of storing documents, and the work of the institution in acquiring archival documents. Guests of the archive visited the reading room and archive storage, where they got acquainted with documents about the formation and development of Belarusian statehood, materials from partisan formations, cards of Belarusians driven to Germany, photographs of Belarusian cities destroyed by the Nazis, and other materials.
And about. Head of the Publications Department T.N. Ageenko gave a lecture «Genealogical krynitsy in the funds of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus», during which she spoke about the information potential of the archive funds when searching for biographical information and compiling the history of her family. At the end of the lecture, the lecturer answered questions from everyone present.
