Employees of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region continue to work to popularize film documents within the framework of the «Open Film Archive» project. We brought this day closer as best we could», prepared by BGAKFFD based on the chronicle of 1944 and dedicated to Operation Bagration and the liberation of Belarus

On May 18, 2024, a round table «Soldier of Victory Vasil Bykov» was held in the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I.Lenin, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the people’s writer of Belarus, Hero of Socialist Labor, participant in the Great Patriotic War, native of the Vitebsk region Vasil Bykov. At the event, Deputy Director Tatyana Vladimirovna Buevich presented the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could» and the film «Liberation» was shown.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Writers’ Unions of Belarus and Russia, literary scholars, museum experts and archivists, as well as students of secondary specialized institutions in Vitebsk, etc.

On the same day, as part of the international event dedicated to the International Day of Museums – «Nights of Museums» on the basis of the cultural institution «Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union M.F.Shmyrev» Tatyana Buevich presented the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could» with the demonstration of the films «Liberation of Vitebsk» and «Liberation» (Belarus) for Vitebsk residents who took part in the event.
