The institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» was visited by students of the State University named after Francysk Skaryna
On May 17, 2024, the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archive) was visited by 3rd year students of the State University named after Francysk Skaryna.
The head of the department of information, publication and use of documents at the State Archive Z.A.Aleksandrovich told what the archive is, what unique documents are stored in a state institution. Students studied the basic rules for the work of users in the reading room, key terms and concepts, and also got acquainted with the permanent exhibition of the archive: «State Archives of the Gomel Region: History and Modernity».
Continuing the meeting, senior researcher at GAGO A.M.Drozdova told students about the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. The students were presented with the documentary film «Liberation», prepared as part of the project by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, which left none of the students indifferent.
The film is based on unique documentary materials, some of which were made public for the first time. The documentary film «Liberation» restores the chronology of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, starting on November 26, 1943, when Red Army troops entered the city of Gomel.
A tour of the archive storage was conducted by the leading archivist of the department of accounting and preservation of documents M.V.Bortnovskaya. Within the framework of which she introduced the main directions of the archive’s work, its funds and scientific reference apparatus.
