Victory Day in Mogilev

On May 8, 2024, on the eve of Victory Day, employees of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region took part in laying flowers at the bust of Major General Mikhail Timofeevich Romanov, a famous Soviet military leader, commander of the 172nd Infantry Division, which heroically defended Mogilev in July 1941, and also visited the Buinichi Field memorial complex, where they laid flowers at the chapel.

Thousands of residents of the Republic of Belarus took to the streets of cities on May 9 to welcome and become participants in the ceremonial events dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The central event of the day in the city of Mogilev was the procession of generations «Belarus Remembers». Columns of demonstrators marched along Pervomaiskaya Street to Glory Square. Among them are representatives of the institution «State Archive of the Mogilev Region».

After the ceremonial march through the central part of Mogilev, the patriotic action «People’s Laying Out», a rally dedicated to Victory Day, and a festive concert «Voice of the Earth» took place on Glory Square. Throughout the day, Mogilev residents and guests of the city could visit dozens of thematic locations and concert venues, and watch an open-air movie. The holiday ended with the patriotic action «Let’s Sing the Anthem Together» and colorful fireworks.
