Employees of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region took part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 79th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War

On May 8, archive employees took part in a solemn meeting and laying wreaths and flowers at the military memorial cemetery (on Titov Street) and at the obelisk «Mass Grave of the Victims of Fascism» on the site of the former «5th Regiment» concentration camp.

Continuing to participate in events dedicated to Victory Day, Deputy Director Tatyana Vladimirovna Buevich spoke at the literary and musical evening «And that means we need one Victory…» at the State Institution «Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I.Lenin» with a story about project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could» with the demonstration of the chronicle-documentary film «Liberation of Vitebsk», prepared by BGAKFFD.

On the same day, archive employees took part in a citywide gala event dedicated to Victory Day and held at the National Academic Drama Theater. Yakub Kolas.

On May 9, on Victory Day, the archive staff, together with city residents, took part in a festive procession and a ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame at the memorial complex in honor of Soviet liberator soldiers, partisans and underground fighters.

On Victory Day, as part of the republican cultural patriotic event «Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten», a meeting with the public was held at the cultural institution «Vitebsk Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union M.F.Shmyrev». The Vitebsk residents were presented with the project «Open Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could» with the demonstration of the film «Liberation», prepared by BGAKFFD based on the chronicle of 1944 and dedicated to Operation Bagration and the liberation of Belarus.
