On May 8, 2024, on the eve of the celebration of Victory Day, the permanent exhibition «Memory and Sorrow», dedicated to perpetuating the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and victims of the Great Patriotic War, began its work in the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation

The Great Patriotic War remains one of the most tragic and bloody pages in the history of mankind. This is an armed conflict that has left an indescribable mark on the destinies of millions of people. For many countries, the Great Patriotic War became a period of enormous losses, indescribable suffering and endless trials. Destroyed cities, dead soldiers, and mutilated lives of survivors became a symbol of its cruelty and senselessness.

But, despite all the trials, this war also became a time of great feats and heroism. People fought for their Motherland, for freedom and for the future of their children. Their sacrifices were not in vain – they are etched in history as a symbol of struggle and the highest devotion to ideals. Therefore, in various parts of the world, including in Belarus, monuments are being created that serve not only as a symbol of the heroism and resilience of the people in difficult times, but also as a place where everyone can touch historical events, remember the lessons of the past and pass them on to future generations.

The Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation stores evidence of this era, documents that widely cover the history of the creation of monuments and memorial complexes dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition can be viewed in the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation, located at the address: Minsk, st. St. Cyril and Methodius, 4.
