Documentary exhibition «Feats and Fates» at the Belarusian State Technological University

On May 2, 2024, a documentary exhibition «Feats and Fates» was organized jointly with the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus at the Belarusian State Technological University.

Almost 80 years have passed since the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. 3 terrible, ruthless, bitter years and 80 years without war. Millions of dead. Such huge numbers are impossible to even imagine. How much it? The population of Minsk today is slightly less than two million. During the war, over 3 years, more than two million civilians in Belarus died – more than live in Minsk today. The personal pain of every Belarusian family, where relatives did not return from the front, went missing, were tortured, shot, burned, or driven to Germany. We will remember that we will never again have to accompany loved ones to war, that houses will be built and not destroyed by shells, that people will be born and not die. So that life goes on.

Deep gratitude for the Great Victory to the university veterans – participants in battles on the war fronts, in the underground and in partisan detachments, commanders and nurses, intelligence officers and signalmen, sappers and cavalrymen. In the post-war period, they worked at the university: among them were the vice-rector, teachers, researchers, a personnel service worker, an elevator operator, and a janitor. An exhibition organized by the university library is dedicated to them, where unique archival documents of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus are presented: certification and award sheets, autobiographies and characteristics, personal sheets on the registration of partisan personnel.
