The Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa presents a document on naming the Strelichevo secondary school in the Khoiniki district of the Gomel region after the full holder of the Order of Glory V.N. Marchenko

A participant in the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Marchenko (08/07/1916 – 04/17/1945) was a native of the Khoiniki region. In the Red Army since 1937. Served in the artillery. In the war – from the first days. He fought on the North Caucasus, 3rd and 4th Ukrainian, 1st Belorussian fronts. He took part in the defense of the North Caucasus and Kuban, the liberation of Donbass, southern Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, and in battles in Germany. On September 22, 1944, Sergeant Major Marchenko was awarded the Order of Glory, III degree, and on March 29, 1945, the Order of Glory, II degree. Killed in battle. Posthumously awarded the Order of Glory, 1st degree, on May 15, 1946.

20 years ago, on April 29, 2004, the leadership of the Khoiniki District Executive Committee made decision No.354 (F. 1. Op. 1. D. 1009. L. 167). It says the following: «In accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 21, 1992 No.763 «On perpetuating the memory of defenders of the Fatherland and victims of wars», a petition from the district council of war veterans and in order to perpetuate the memory of V.N. Marchenko, his military merits during the Great Patriotic War, the district executive committee DECIDED: 1. To assign the name of Vladimir Nikitovich Marchenko to the Strelichivo secondary school in the Khoiniki district of the Gomel region».
