Director of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» A.N.Suschevich took part in the dialogue platform «April 26 – Day of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Tragedy»

On April 26, 2024, the director of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archives) A.N.Suschevich took part in the dialogue platform «April 26 – Day of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Tragedy», held at the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.75 of Gomel».

The experts were: A.N.Sushchevich, director of the State Civil Aviation Administration, P.A.Stashuk, senior inspector of the center for life safety and interaction with the public of the Gomel regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, L.A.Tireshchenko, deputy chief regional sanitary doctor, liquidator of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The event was also attended by schoolchildren and teachers of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.75 of Gomel».

The purpose of the event is to remember the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which became a terrible tragedy for humanity and claimed a huge number of lives, causing enormous damage to the country’s ecology, as well as the formation of civic responsibility and patriotic education of students using the example of the causes and consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

During the dialogue platform, the participants, together with the invited guests, talked about the history of the creation of the station and traced the chronicle of the events of that tragic day. In a lively dialogue, they discussed the heroic feat of the liquidators of the accident, the reasons for its occurrence, and also discussed how dangerous radiation is and what destructive impact the explosion had on humanity and nature.

All participants of the event agreed that the feat accomplished by the liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident will never be forgotten! We need to remember Chernobyl for the sake of the future, be aware of the dangers of radiation and do everything to ensure that such disasters never happen again.
