As you know, archivists-restorers are not trained in any educational institution in the country, but you can become a good specialist by entering the profession consciously, getting an idea of the profession firsthand, in practice.

The state institution «Central Laboratory for Ensuring the Preservation of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus» consistently establishes contacts with higher educational institutions in specialized fields in order to form a personnel reserve of potential employees.

By agreement with the leadership of the University of Culture and Arts, on April 4, 2024, the guests of the laboratory were the second group of 3rd year students of BSUKI, studying in the specialty of library and information science, led by Associate Professor of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Information and Documentary Communications of BSUKI, Ph.D. Sciences E.Ya. Pavlova for informational purposes and for conducting a practical lesson on the topic «Ensuring the safety of archival documents» within the framework of the studied discipline «Fundamentals of Archival Science».

The director of the laboratory, V.L. Klyuiko, made an introductory speech to the students, who emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the laboratory staff in preserving historical heritage.

Students with genuine interest became familiar with the technological processes of microbiological research, restoration, microfilming and digitization, binding of archival documents, and asked many questions to the specialists, especially about restoring the physical integrity of archival documents and the restoration materials used in this process.

The students and their teacher parted with the laboratory staff as good friends with mutual intentions to develop closer cooperation in personnel training and joint events within the framework of the republican action «Archives to School».
