On conducting a sightseeing tour at the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region»

On April 1, 2024, in the Year of Quality, the «Archives to School» event, employees of the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region» conducted an excursion for 9th grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 22».

Documentary exhibitions prepared by archive staff based on archival documents were presented to the children’s attention.

The archivists spoke about the participants in the Great Patriotic War, about the partisan movement in the Klichev region and about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War using materials from the archive funds. A quiz was held for schoolchildren on the topic: «The Great Patriotic War.» The schoolchildren also watched documentaries: «Defense of the City of Mogilev», «We brought this day closer as best we could. Open Film Archive.

Next, the schoolchildren were given a sightseeing tour of the archive storage facility, during which they became familiar with the activities of the archive in preserving documents, the composition of the stored documents, and their storage regime.

The museum exhibition «History of the Party Archive» was presented to the guests. At the end of the excursion, the children enjoyed a short course in typing on a mechanical typewriter.
