On April 2, 2024, in the reading room of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archive) a meeting was held dedicated to the national holiday – the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
The event was opened by the director of the GAGom Sushchevich A.N. In his opening speech, he congratulated the team on the common holiday of the peoples of Belarus and Russia.
«The foundations for the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia are laid in the fundamental documents signed more than 20 years ago by the presidents of the two countries, the key of which is the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State of December 8, 1999. In accordance with the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation are pursuing a coordinated social policy, the purpose of which is to unite efforts in the interests of social progress and create the necessary conditions for a decent life for citizens,» said the director of the archive.
Also Suschevich A.N. brought to the attention of the team information about events in the country and abroad for the period from March 18 to March 24, 2024.
Andrei Nikolaevich said that on March 18, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko convened a meeting on preparations for the meeting of the VII All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. The head of state emphasized the special importance and status of the upcoming event, because although this will be the seventh All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, it will be its first meeting in a new capacity, as enshrined in the updated Constitution.
In addition, the report noted that real disposable income of the population increased by 5.1% in January 2024 compared to the same month in 2023.
