On the participation of the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents» in the seminar «100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema in the exhibition space of republican and local history museums»

On March 29, 2024, the Republican scientific and practical seminar «100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema in the exhibition space of republican and local history museums» was held at the Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema.

The event brought together specialists from archives, museums, and scientific institutions who shared their experience in preserving audiovisual documents, recommendations for exhibiting, and proposals for cooperation.

The speaker from the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents» (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) was the director of the archive, A.N.Gonchar. The topic of his report is «Audiovisual documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema: composition of funds, features of storage and use». In the speech, the emphasis was placed on the special conditions for storing audiovisual documents that are part of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus, since if they are not observed, valuable documents may be lost forever. In addition, an expanded description of the genre and thematic composition of the documents stored in the BGAKFFD was given. A.N. Gonchar emphasized that the uniqueness of audiovisual documents located in the archives, their historical, cultural and scientific value are extremely high, and the BGAKFFD team is invariably open to new joint projects.
