Pre-graduation practice for students

From February 26 to March 29, 2024, the National Historical Archives of Belarus hosted pre-diploma internship for 4th-year full-time and 5th-year part-time students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University. The main goal of the internship is to give students practical skills in working with archival documents from different eras, which should improve their qualifications as researchers who, after graduation, will move on to direct work.

The head of practice from the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus, head of the department of research and publication activities, Sergei Ryndin, introduced students to the history of archival work in the Belarusian lands, the history of the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus, the composition and features of the institution’s funds, and the possibilities of their use in scientific research. During the practice period, students worked with archival documents from the 19th – early 19th century. XX century according to the topic of the thesis.

Archive staff helped future specialists with practical advice on working with documents, which should help them in preparing their theses for defense.
