Presentation of a guide to the BSAMLA funds
On March 26, 2024, a presentation of two new books from well-known cultural institutions of Belarus took place – a Guide to the collections of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLA) and the first museum catalog on the collection of books with dedicatory inscriptions by Yakub Kolas «Hell of the Sirts, Hell of the Soul» of the State Literary and Memorial Museum of Yakub Kolas. More than 60 people took part in the event: representatives of archival, museum and library institutions of the republic, students of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, students of gymnasium No. 40 and school No. 142 in Minsk.
The director of the archive-museum, Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko, and the director of the memorial museum, Irina Vladimirovna Matyas, gave a speech.
The third issue of the BSAMLA Guide reveals the composition and content of the archive-museum funds received and subject to scientific description in 2010 – 2021. The authors-compilers, honored archivists of Belarus – Anna Vyacheslavovna Zapartyko and Valentina Egorovna Danekina, spoke about the work on it.
Cataloging of museum objects is an important step in the scientific description of the collection of books with dedications to the poet, which are carefully preserved in the funds of the Yakub Kolas Museum. The chief curator of the museum’s funds, Vasilina Valerievna Mitskevich, spoke about this.
Professor of the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University Mikhail Fedorovich Shumeiko once again emphasized the importance of the work of archival institutions in creating annotated reference books, as well as the cooperation that has been established between archival, museum and library institutions.
