Participation of BSAFPSD in the 31st Minsk International Book Fair

On March 14, 2024, the opening of the 31st Minsk International Book Fair took place, which is one of the largest book forums in the country, uniting over 60 countries. The exhibition, held annually, this year is located at the National Exhibition Center «BelExpo» from March 14 to 17.

On the first day of the exhibition, the book «From the Battle of Moscow to Operation Bagration» was presented, which was the result of the joint work of the Planet Publishing House (Moscow), the Forum Publishing House and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with the participation of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (hereinafter – BSAFPSD).

The publication includes photographic documents from the BSAFPSD funds dedicated to the period of the strategic offensive operation «Bagration», taken in different cities of Belarus in July-August 1944, illustrating the liberation of the country from the Nazi invaders.

During the presentation, the director of the BSAFPSD, Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar, made a welcoming speech, noting the importance of carrying out projects that contribute to the preservation of historical memory and preventing attempts to falsify national history. The presentation was attended by the director of the Forum Publishing House Tatyana Vladimirovna Belova, the founder of the Planeta Publishing House Sergei Nikolaevich Moiseev, the director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences Vadim Leonidovich Lakiza, the deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Pavel Anatolyevich Trubchik and other project partners.
