About the visit to the State Archives of the Brest Region by students of school No. 19 in Brest

On February 22, 2024, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, the State Archive of the Brest Region was visited by 11th grade students from the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 19 of Brest named after Hero of the Soviet Union S.I.Sikorsky».

At the Archive History Museum, the head of the department for the use and publication of documents is G.D.Kalustova. told students about how the archive was created, about the composition of the archive’s documents, including the history of the Great Patriotic War. The children got acquainted with an exhibition of documents reflecting the policy of genocide during the years of German occupation in the Brest region.

Next, the students were given a sightseeing tour of the archives with a visit to the archives. In the laboratory for the repair and restoration of archival documents, the children learned how the process of restoring documents occurs.

As part of career guidance, students learned that it is possible to obtain a specialty as an archivist at the Belarusian State University at the Faculty of History.
