On the holding of a lecture on the topic «Touching History» by employees of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Orsha» as part of the «Archives to School» campaign

On February 8, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign with 8th grade students of the state educational institution «Secondary School No. 2 of Orsha named after. B.L. Khigrina» head. The department for the use of documents by M.A. Nikulina held an information hour on the topic: «Touching history,» dedicated to the 310th anniversary of the founding of the Trinitarian Church and Monastery in Orsha.

The Trinitarians are a Catholic mendicant monastic order with an 800-year history. The order’s monasteries were located in Spain, Italy, Poland and other Catholic states, as well as the territories of Belarus, the Baltic states and Ukraine (Lutsk, Brailov, Kamenets-Podolsky, Vitebsk, Orsha, Krivichi, Vilnius, Jonava). Modern Trinitarians continue to carry out their mission on the island of Madagascar.

During this event, students learned about the history of the origin, activities of the Catholic monastic order of the Trinitarians, its founders, as well as when the order appeared on the territory of Orsha and its subsequent fate. Schoolchildren were offered a virtual tour of the archive building.
