On October 13, 2023, a documentary exhibition organized by the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and dedicated to the Week of Parental Love opened at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus
Belarus plans to celebrate two important dates on a large scale – Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The first coincides with the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary – it is celebrated on October 14, the second was celebrated by Belarusians for the first time in 2022 on October 21. Mother’s Day is a kind of thanksgiving day, the day of the greatest and most holy mission for those who carried a child under their hearts and whose hearts all their lives then ache for him. At the same time, for a long time, fathers remained somewhat in the shadow of public attention, so the introduction of a new holiday should fill this gap.
We are all born into a family, and growing up, we create our own. This is how man is made and this is how life is. A man and a woman, creating a union, each bring their own unique component to it, and all this together forms the foundation of family relationships, creating an atmosphere of happiness, love and trust in which their children will be born and grow up. A family cannot exist without family values; they are the ones that preserve its integrity and spiritual health.
Now in our country there is an opportunity to celebrate Parents’ Week from October 14 to 21 as, first of all, gratitude to those who every day put their whole soul into raising children, our future. During this period, emphasis will be placed on activities that contribute to the further preservation of traditional family values, which will generally increase the significance of the state’s family policy.
In general, our country pays great attention to strengthening the institution of family and social support not only for large couples. Of great importance in strengthening family foundations is the consolidation at the legislative level of various preferences for working parents – flexible work schedules, parental leave and a number of other bonuses, as well as a system of state benefits.
The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus presented at the exhibition documents from the personal collections of state party and public figures, scientists of Belarus: P.M. Masherov, N.E. Avkhimovich, V.I. Liventsev, I.M. Ignatenko. etc., transferred for storage to the department of personal funds. These are individual photographs with family, on vacation, correspondence with family and friends, holiday greetings, children’s drawings, postcards made by children for their parents.
