About the holding of the «Young Archivist» circle class by the National Historical Archives of Belarus

On October 12, 2023, at the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 27» in Minsk, the next lesson of the «Young Archivist» circle took place. The deputy head of the department of research and publication activities of the National Historical Archive of Belarus, Evgeniy Glinsky, spoke to the high school students. The topic of the lesson was genealogical searches, the study of family history based on materials from the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus. E.Glinsky told students about the main types of genealogical sources and methods of working with them. The circle participants were shown digital copies of parish books, revision tales, family lists and other documents containing information useful in creating their own genealogy.

Students participated in the work of the circle with great interest, asking questions about how to start researching the history of their ancestors, and to what period it is possible to find information.

The theme of the lesson, related to family history, became very consonant with the Week of Parental Love announced in the Republic of Belarus, timed to coincide with the celebration of Mother’s Day (October 14) and Father’s Day (October 21).
