Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov took part in the meeting of the International Association (Commission) of Historians and Archivists of the CIS Member States
On October 11, 2023, a meeting of the International Association (Commission) of Historians and Archivists of the CIS Member States (hereinafter referred to as the Association) was held via videoconference.
For reference: The Regulations on the Association were approved at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States on October 14, 2021 in Minsk.
The association was created to counter attempts to distort history and preserve historical truth. It consists of three members from each country (representatives of the national institute of history, the national archival service and the history department of the leading university in the national education system).
At the meeting of the Association, which was chaired by the Scientific Director of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as RAS), Academician of the RAS A.O.Chubaryan, the following issues were considered:
1. Brief information about the main activities of the Association members in 2023.
2. Discussion of the topics of promising projects of the Association.
3. On holding an international scientific conference dedicated to the problems of the formation and development of historical memory in the Commonwealth (Moscow, November 2024).
4. On the organization of an international summer school for young historians of the CIS countries «Historical memory in the CIS: conflicts or consensus» (summer 2024).
Representatives of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the meeting.
The Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management in his speech informed about the activities of state archival institutions in the current period.
The head of the archival industry of Belarus invited his colleagues to cooperate as part of the plan to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of October 5, 2023 No.316.
