Under the heading «Documentary Chronicle» and on the eve of Archivist Day, the institution «State Archive of the Mogilev Region» presents for review a copy of the decision of the Mogilev City Executive Committee No. 31-38 dated July 4, 1986 «On approval of the act of the State Commission for the acceptance into operation of the state archive building on 750 thousand storage units on the street. The State Archive of the Mogilev Region was created on July 5, 1938, simultaneously with the adoption of a new administrative-territorial division of the BSSR. As of 1941, its holdings included 650,000 items. During the Great Patriotic War, most of the archival documents were destroyed during the fighting and occupation period. Some still managed to be evacuated to the Soviet rear. The archive resumed its work first in Krichev in 1943, then in July 1944, after the liberation of Mogilev, it was moved to the regional center. Here the archive was located in the building at 4 Kommunistichesky Lane, then on the street. Lazarenko, 18. Since December 1963 – in the building of the Church of St. Stanislav on the street. Komsomolskaya, 4. All these premises were not suitable for storing archival documents. Therefore, in July 1986, a new standard building was built for the archive on the street. Chelyuskintsev.
