On the participation of the institution “Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents” in the preparation and opening of the temporary exhibition “The United Memory is Faithful”
On September 22, 2023, the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War hosted the grand opening of the temporary exhibition “The United Memory is Faithful,” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the liberation of Belarus!
The first section of the temporary exhibition is dedicated to the heroic actions of Soviet soldiers in the battles for the liberation of the eastern regions of Belarus in September – November 1943.
At the beginning of the event, the director of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, V.S. Voropaev, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. Vladimir Sergeevich noted that the temporary exhibition “Unified Memory is Faithful” is a tribute to veterans, the entire military generation and, at the same time, an appeal to young people, to the descendants of the victors.
At the opening ceremony, the directors of the partner museums who participated in the preparation of the exhibition, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo, the CIS Executive Committee and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus also spoke with welcoming and congratulatory words. The honored guests congratulated those present on the opening of the exhibition, noted the importance of preserving the history of our country and expressed their gratitude to all those who gave their lives for the freedom of Belarus.
In his speech, the director of the institution “Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents” (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD), Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar, emphasized the role of both partner organizations in preserving historical memory and forming a reliable picture of the past of our country.
As a partner of the project, BGAKFFD prepared and transmitted fragments of 4 film documents. They are dedicated to the beginning of the liberation of Belarusian lands and the Gomel-Rechitsa offensive operation.
The organizers of the exhibition noted that the opening of the temporary exhibition “The United Memory is Faithful” is only the beginning of the path to the liberation of Belarus. The exhibition will be expanded and will ultimately tell the whole story of the liberation of our country.
