On August 31, 2023, on the eve of the Day of Knowledge, the State Archives of the Gomel Region (hereinafter referred to as GAG) traditionally launched the campaign «Collect a portfolio for a first grader», and the opening of the exhibition «September 1 – Archival Photo Album» took place.

The event was opened by the director of the archive Sushchevich A.N. In his speech, Andrey Nikolayevich congratulated the students on the beginning of the school year. He spoke about the profession of an archivist, relevant and in demand at any time, the specifics of the work of the archive industry and key projects that are being implemented by the regional archive.

In addition, schoolchildren had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the exhibition «September 1 – Archival Photo Album». The exposition presents photographs of employees from the family archives at the school on September 1 in different years. The exhibition allows you to make an amazing journey into the past, gives you the opportunity to remember your very First of September, to recreate the atmosphere of this tradition, which has been around for many years.

During the event, they talked about the importance of knowing the history of one’s country, which begins with the history of one’s family, the history of one’s city, the understanding of which allows one to analyze the present and make plans for the future.

At the end of the event, handing over school supplies and sweet gifts, the director of the archive addressed the children with parting words, wishing the young schoolchildren to obey their parents and study well at school, as well as health and strength in the new academic year.

Also, traditionally, from the funds of the GAG, financial support was provided to workers raising school-age children. Similar meetings and assistance are going to continue.
