The exhibition «Partisans of Belarus» began its work in the 1st separate special police brigade in Minsk
On July 10, 2023, in the 1st separate special police brigade in Minsk – military unit No. 5448, a field training camp of the Granit military-patriotic club for teenagers began. On the same day, the exhibition «Partisans of Belarus» was presented for the children.
Deputy Director – Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house Ivan Aleksandrovich Sinichkin emphasized in his speech:
– Guys, you are lucky that during the training camp you will have the opportunity to touch the history of our land and the feat of those people who defended the Fatherland, civilians, defended our freedom and life. When you get acquainted with the exhibition in the classroom, read the award documents, which describe the feats accomplished by the guys a little older than you. Look at their faces, photographs of that time. Try to find your relatives. Ask your parents more about their fate during the Great Patriotic War. This must be done, because they fought for us to live.
Deputy Director of the National Archives Elena Alexandrovna Stukanova, speaking to those present, raised an important issue of understanding patriotism:
What does it mean to be a patriot? – about which we talk so much lately. This means knowing history, knowing how this story concerns you personally, what contribution your relatives made to the Victory. And thanks to this portal you will have such an opportunity. The National Archives digitizes documents that were created during the war years. Thanks to the portal, everyone can work with them. The task of the archive is not just to store these priceless relics, but to make sure that as many people as possible learn about them.
Elena Alexandrovna handed over to the military unit 5448 a new edition of «Archives. Nothing but the Truth», prepared in cooperation with the BelTA news agency.
During the event, one of the guys, Yegor Zhdanovich, managed to find information about his great-great-grandfather, Iosif Ivanovich Zhdanovich, using an interactive stand in the database of the «Partisans of Belarus» project. Alas, there is only one mournful document on the resource – a notice of death.
– The city of Orsha is indicated – yes, this is it. We didn’t even know where my great-great-grandfather was buried. Killed in 1943. A grave in Uglyany, Kruglyansky district … This is a discovery, – the teenager says, a little taken aback by the unexpected information.
There are over 213,000 names in the database of the Partisans of Belarus project, and this figure is growing every day. The value of the project is that everyone can access it, from anywhere in the world, at a convenient time of the day or night. It provides an opportunity to see real living documents that tell about the history of the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War.
