On the completion of advanced training courses for employees of state archival institutions

Further education courses are organized by the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus together with the History Faculty of the Belarusian State University on the basis of the Faculty of Advanced Studies and Retraining of the Belarusian State university.

The lectures were conducted by lecturers of the Belarusian State University, senior officials of the Department of Archives and Paperwork, highly qualified specialists of the republican archival institutions.

Within the framework of the courses, 31 employees of state archival institutions were trained, including republican archival institutions – 13 employees of republican archival institutions, state archives of the Brest region – 6; Vitebsk region – 4; Gomel region – 4; Minsk region – 3; Mogilev region – 1. Also, 3 representatives of departmental archives of organizations studied at the courses.

The training program had a relevant topic and covered issues:

– organization of control activities in the field of archiving and office work;
– providing access to documents of the state archives of the Republic of Belarus;
– species affiliation of requests received by the state archives of the Republic of Belarus from citizens and legal entities;
– organizing the work of the archive of the organization and the service of documentary support of management;
– ensuring archival storage of electronic documents;
– terminology in the field of archiving and office work in the light of the amendments made to the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated November 25, 2011 «On archiving and office work»;
– examination of the value of documents and the acquisition of state archives, taking into account the amendments made to the Law of the Republic of Belarus of November 25, 2011 «On archival business and office work»;
– reflecting the issues of preservation, scientific and reference apparatus in the main performance indicators of state archival institutions;
– centralized state accounting of documents in state archives;
– the use of Internet technologies to expand access to archival documents;
– electronic document management systems;
– international theory and practice of examination of value;
– methods for creating an electronic publication of a document;
– normative legal and methodological support in the field of the right to information in the field of activity of the service of documentary support of management and the archive of the organization.

May 17, 2023 on the basis of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus a round table «Modern trends in office work and archiving» was held with the participation of the first Deputy Director of the Department O.A. Ledovskaya.

As part of the event, course participants were introduced to the activities of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of heads of structural divisions and a sightseeing tour of the archive funds.

On May 19, 2023, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management Voinov O.L. held a round table «Modern challenges and opportunities in the field of document management and archiving». In his speech Voinov O.L. dwelled on the topical issues of the activities of state archives at the present stage: ensuring the information security of archival resources, organizing work with electronic documents, increasing the availability of archival information.

The results of advanced training courses were summed up with the presentation of certificates of advanced training of the established sample to the students.

Employees of archival institutions highly appreciated the practical significance of the courses, the relevance of the chosen topics of the curriculum and noted the importance of such professional training for strengthening the personnel potential of the archival industry of the Republic of Belarus.

Work to improve the skills of employees of state archival institutions will be continued.

In October 2023, it is planned to organize advanced training courses for employees of archives of state bodies and other organizations.
