Family Day at the State Archives of the Minsk Region

May 15, 2023 within the framework of the republican campaign «My family is my country», timed to coincide with Family Day, «Archives-School» and as part of the activities to implement the Agreement between the Government of the Leningrad Region (Russian Federation) and the Minsk Regional Executive Committee (Republic of Belarus) on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural spheres for 2023-2024, in the Minsk Regional Library named after. A.S. Pushkin, the opening of the historical and documentary exhibition «Portrait of a Family in the Interior of Time» took place.

The purpose of this event is to attract public attention to the family as the most important social institution, educate children and youth in the system of traditional values, high morality and patriotism, and preserve the historical memory of the people.

The exhibition was prepared according to the documents of the State Archives of the Minsk Region, as well as documents from the Leningrad Regional State Archives in Vyborg.

The exposition consists of five blocks characterizing the institution of the family in different historical periods. The showcases show documents reflecting the formation of a new family model after the October Revolution of 1917 and at the early stages of the formation of the Soviet state, the life of people during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war period, state policy regarding family and marriage, raising children, holidays, family traditions.

During the opening of the exhibition, the greeting address of the Archival Administration of the Leningrad Region, signed by the head of the Archival Administration Savchenko A.V., was read out. There was also a lecture on genealogy: how to use the archives, look for information about the family and what sources of information to use. The genealogist Sergei Andrianov shared this information with those present.
