On the eve of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a showcase exhibition was organized in the State Archives of the Brest Region

On the eve of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a showcase exhibition was organized in the State Archives of the Brest Region.

The exhibition exhibits originals and copies of documents, articles from newspapers, photographs devoted to the period of the Great Patriotic War.

In particular, documents revealing the system of food supply to the population, reflecting the occupation policy of forced labor and kidnapping to Germany, German propaganda posters calling for voluntary departure to work in Germany, etc. are presented.

Materials about the return to peaceful life, the first steps to restore order and the restoration of the destroyed economy after the liberation of Brest region from the German fascist invaders are also shown.

A separate fragment of the exposition consists of documents about the genocide of the civilian population of Brest region, the consequences of the war and the damage caused.

In addition, on the symbolic «city» poster post there are advertisements, fragments of newspapers from different eras (on the eve of the war, during the occupation, the period of the liberated city), which were layered on top of each other during the five-year period of Brest’s history, and on top – pages of issues of the regional newspaper «Zarya» for May 8, 11, 13, 1945, which were dedicated to Victory Day.

On May 4-5, 2023, 5 events (lectures and lessons) were held as part of the republican action «Archives – School»: for 2 groups of students of the 3rd year of the Faculty of History of A.S.Pushkin Brest State University, for students of the 9th and 10th 18th grade of Secondary School No. 18, for 10th graders of the Brest Regional Lyceum named after P.M. Masherov.

Head of the Department of Use and Publication of Documents Kalustova G.D. told about the documents presented at the exhibition. The demonstrated documents aroused lively interest among young people.
