Conducting a lesson for the students of the «Gymnasium No.7 named after V.T.Kolokolnikov, Grodno» as part of the «Archives – School» campaign

On the eve of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 5, 2023 as part of the «Archives – School» campaign by the «State Archive of the Grodno Region» for students of the 9th grade of the «V.T.Kolokolnikov Gymnasium No. 7, Grodno» a lesson was held on the topic «There was a people’s war».

Documentary materials of the German occupation authorities were presented to the attention of schoolchildren: cards of prisoners of war who were in German camps, work certificates of citizens sent to work in Germany, certificates of ghetto prisoners, questionnaires of workers. The students also got acquainted with the documents of partisan and underground brigades that operated on the territory of the Grodno region during the Nazi occupation.

As part of the lesson, the archivists presented an exhibition of documents entitled «We brought this day as close as we could…» dedicated to the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War. Also exhibited in the reading room of the archives of the exhibition «The people’s war was going on were presented to the attention of schoolchildren. Partisans and underground soldiers of the Grodno region», «People’s destinies. In memory of the victims of fascism».

A tour of the archives was conducted for schoolchildren. Students learned about the conditions of document storage, saw the most valuable and unique documentary materials stored in the archive.
