Conducting a lesson for 9th grade students as part of the «Archives – School» campaign

On the eve of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 5, 2023 as part of the «Archives – School» campaign by the «State Archive of the Grodno Region» for students of the 9th grade of the «Secondary School No.34 of Grodno and the Secondary School No.35, Grodno», a lesson was held on the topic «We are loyal to this memory».

Schoolchildren were shown documentary materials reflecting the criminal activities of the German-fascist invaders on the territory of Grodno during the Great Patriotic War. The employees of the archive told the students about how the struggle of partisans and underground soldiers unfolded under the conditions of the harsh occupation regime. The memories of the participants in the war, as well as documents and materials about the activities of anti-fascist formations in the territory of the Grodno region, aroused great interest among schoolchildren.

As part of the lesson, the archivists presented an exhibition of documents entitled «We brought this day as close as we could», dedicated to the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War. Also exhibited in the reading room of the archives of the exhibition «The people’s war was going on were presented to the attention of schoolchildren. Partisans and underground soldiers of the Grodno region», «People’s destinies. In memory of the victims of fascism».

The lesson ended with a tour of the archive, during which the students were told about the conditions and features of document storage.
