The institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» conducts a series of lessons for schoolchildren on the topic: «April 26, 1986. Chernobyl – the largest environmental disaster of the 20th century»

On April 26, 2023, Drozdova A.M., a senior researcher at the Department of Information for Publication and Use of Documents of the Institution “State Archive of the Gomel Region”, conducted a series of lessons for students of the State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 2 of Gomel named after G. M. Skleznev” on the topic: “April 26, 1986. Chernobyl is the largest environmental disaster of the 20th century” within the walls of the branch library No. E.R. Romanov city of Gomel. The children also got acquainted with the exhibition on the above topic.

37 years have passed since a terrible tragedy occurred for the Belarusian land – an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. On this day, students gathered within the walls of the library to once again recall the Chernobyl tragedy and the heroism of the liquidators of the terrible accident of the 20th century.

The children learned the history of the station, the causes of the accident and the consequences for the environment. In addition, a video was shown to students within the framework of the above topic.

At the end of the event, in the format of a dialogue, the guys concluded that people should remember the Chernobyl disaster, be aware of the danger of radiation and do everything to prevent this from happening again.
