Conducting a lesson in historical memory “They believed in Victory” on the basis of the institution “State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region”, dedicated to the International Day of Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps

On April 4, 2023, within the framework of the “Archives for School” campaign, a lesson in historical memory “They believed in Victory” was held on the basis of the State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region, dedicated to the International Day for the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps.

The event was attended by students of the educational institution “Gomel State Machine-Building College” group ET-21. The study group was accompanied by the curator Novikova Natalya Viktorovna.

Within the framework of the meeting, the archivists organized a screening of videos about the Ozarichi death camp and the Dulag-121 transit camp for prisoners of war.

The guys got the opportunity to get acquainted with original documents containing the memoirs of General P.I. Batov, which describes the episode of the liberation of the prisoners of the Ozarichi camp. In addition, the archivists voiced the memories of former juvenile prisoners and the testimony of eyewitnesses.

In conclusion, the children were given tours of the departments and the archives, where they showed how documents are stored, what serial numbers mean, and how one can navigate among such an abundance of information.
