Acceptance of metric books of the 19th – first half of the 20th centuries as a gift from local historian Vitold Yermalenko.
On March 21, 2023, a joyful event took place in the life of the National Historical Archive of Belarus, one of those that happen infrequently. Local historian from the city of Miory, Vitebsk region Vitold Antonovich Yermalenok donated to the archive, and the NIA of Belarus accepted for permanent storage two metric books. This is a book of prenuptial searches of the Pogost (Novy Pogost metro station) church in the Disna district of the Vilna province for 1835–1841. and a book of birth certificates (in different years) for members of the Kublishchenskaya (Kublishche village) Old Believer community of the Braslav povet, Vilna Voivodeship, issued according to witnesses in 1929–1934. due to the destruction of registers.
The indicated books by V.A. Yermalenok purchased at his own expense from private individuals who were going to take them out of the borders of Belarus, at the end of the Soviet era. Thus, he actually saved these valuable sources for the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus.
In the NIA of Belarus, transferred to V.A. Yermalenko parish registers will be registered and scanned, after which they will become available to domestic and foreign researchers in the archive’s reading room.
