On a working visit to the state archival institutions of the city of Gomel
On February 24, 2023, as part of a working visit to Gomel, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.N.Kot and Director of the Department for Archives and Office Work O.L.Voinov visited the state archival institutions of the city of Gomel.
O.N.Kot and O.L.Voinov studied the progress of the reconstruction of the former building of the automatic telephone exchange in the city of Gomel under the archive of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region». At the construction site, reports were heard from representatives of the engineering (GP UKS of the city of Gomel) and contracting (JSC «SP-Stroy») organizations on the work performed in 2022 and planned activities for 2023.
As part of the working visit, O.N.Kot and O.L.Voinov visited the institutions «State Archive of the Gomel Region», «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» and the state institution «Republican Laboratory for Digital Copying of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus». In archival institutions, O.N.Kot and O.L.Voinov got acquainted with the working conditions of archivists, with the material and technical base of institutions, visited reading rooms and production facilities.
As part of a visit to archival institutions, the Director of the Department, O.L.Voinov, held a working meeting at the State Archives of the Gomel Region, where he heard a report from the Director of the Archives, A.N.Sushchevich, on the work of the institution in 2022.
The visit to archival institutions resulted in meetings with labor collectives, at which the director of the Department, O.L.Voinov, noted the work of archivists in preserving the documentary heritage and historical memory of the Belarusian people. The archivists were given tasks for the current period and specific instructions were given for their solution.
