On honoring the memory of the first director of the BSSR Central State University in Minsk Ivan Vasilyevich Roshchin
On February 23, 2023, as part of the celebration of the Defender of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Day, the National Historical Archive of Belarus hosted events dedicated to honoring the memory of the first director of the Central State Historical Archive of the BSSR in Minsk (1964-1968), participant of the Great Patriotic War Ivan Vasilyevich Roshchin.
Within the framework of these events, a meeting of the working collectives of the NIA of Belarus and the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Affairs took place with I.V.Roshchin’s daughter Tatiana Ivanovna Roshchina, who told the audience about the life path and human qualities of her father, his participation in the Great Patriotic War, work as directors of the Central State Library of the BSSR and the Khatyn Memorial Complex. T.I.Roshchina’s speech aroused great interest among archivists, who asked her many questions about her father.
According to the decision of the general meeting of the working collective, an entry about I.V.Roshchin was entered in the Book of Honor of the institution, under which his daughter T.I.Roshchin personally put the date.
During the meeting, the exhibition «Ivan Vasilyevich Roshchin (1908-1972) – the first director of the Central State Historical Archive of the BSSR in Minsk (1964-1968): the Way of Life» was opened in the conference hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, which presented photographs reflecting the participation of I.V.Roshchin in the battles on the Northwestern Front and the meeting in April 1945 the city of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe, his post-war service in the Soviet Army, work in the Central State Guard of the BSSR and the Memorial Complex «Khatyn».
