On the holding by employees of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Orsha» within the framework of the action «Archives for School» lectures on the topic «Cultural Heritage of Orsha Region»

On February 9, 2023, as part of the Archives-School campaign, for the purpose of civic-patriotic, ideological education, with students of grades 2-10 of the state educational institution Zabolotskaya secondary school, Orsha district, archive workers held an information hour on the topic: «Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War».

During this event, the children got acquainted with archival documents and photographs reflecting the policy of the Nazi invaders in relation to the civilian population of the Vitebsk region, including residents of the city of Orsha and the Orsha region during the Great Patriotic War, as well as the numerous atrocities of the Nazis and irreparable losses brought by the war.

In addition, the attention of the students was given a film about the children’s concentration camp «Krasny Bereg» – one of the 14 «donor points» organized by the German occupiers on the territory of Belarus. Toddlers and teenagers were taken by force from their mothers, examined and blood was taken for transfusion to wounded officers and soldiers of the Wehrmacht. This memorable and terrible place is also called «Children’s Khatyn». Now there is a memorial in its place, leaving which, most visitors cannot hold back tears …
