On January 10, 2023, the ceremony of presenting a special award of the President of the Republic of Belarus took place at the Palace of the Republic.
The award is presented annually by the Head of State for outstanding achievements in the field of musical, decorative and applied arts, museum work, folk and amateur art, education and upbringing of creative youth.
According to the results of 2022, for the creation and promotion among a wide audience of a public database of partisans and underground workers operating on the territory of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War and the information Internet portal «Partisans of Belarus» a special award of the President of the Republic Belarus was awarded to the state institution «National Archives of the Republic of Belarus» and the Institution of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus «Publishing House «Belarus Today».
The joint project of the Publishing House «Belarus Today» and the state institution «National Archive of the Republic of Belarus» «Partisans of Belarus» was created with the aim of patriotic education of young people, raising the civil-patriotic level of the population, and intensifying search work.
For more than four years, work has been carried out to create and fill this unique portal.
To date, the database contains more than 196,000 personal electronic cards of partisans. Among them, users can find their heroic relatives and countrymen who took part in partisan struggle, get acquainted with high-quality scanned documents (award lists, combat characteristics, letters), learn new facts about the partisan movement on the territory of Belarus, share historical documents and photographs from family archives.
The project has been very popular from the first days. Since its launch, it has been visited by more than 600 thousand users from 100 countries of the world (the largest number of visitors are from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Kazakhstan, Germany, Israel, Latvia, Poland, Great Britain).
An Internet portal administration system has been developed that can automate the processes of entering and searching for data from digitized copies. Scanned documents coming from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus automatically form new electronic cards of partisans, and data is entered into them by employees of the Belarus Today Publishing House under the guidance of historians and archive staff.
In addition to the database, the Internet portal «Partisans of Belarus» includes a brief history of the partisan and underground movement in Belarus, data on partisan formations, partisan photo chronicle, biographical information about Belarusian partisans – Heroes of the Soviet Union, legendary brigade commanders, battles and battles associated with the partisan movement. On the basis of historical documents, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus took part in the preparation of more than 400 materials about the partisan movement in Belarus.
Literally at the end of 2022, a new section «Maps» was added to the portal for placing cartographic documents.
In support of the project, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus participated in the presentation of several dozen mobile interactive exhibitions in regional centers, a number of regional centers, military units, at major republican events, and with the support of the Ministry of Education, in almost all state universities of the country.
The Department for Archives and Office Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus congratulates the staff of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus with the high appreciation of their work at the highest state level.
It is symbolic that the special award of the President of the Republic of Belarus was awarded on the basis of the results of 2022 – the Year of Historical Memory, the 100th anniversary of the archive service of Belarus, the 95th anniversary of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus.
