Archives are a historical institution of memory
On December 22, 2022, in the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents», as part of the educational project «School of an Active Citizen», an open lesson and an excursion were held for teachers and students of the following schools: State Educational Establishment «Borovo Educational and Pedagogical Complex Nursery-Kindergarten – Secondary School», State Educational Institution «Skirmantovsky educational and pedagogical complex nursery garden – secondary school», State Educational Institution «Negorelskaya Secondary School No. 1», State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 4 of Dzerzhinsk».
The students were addressed by the Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus A.E. Tsvetkov with the theme of the lesson «Archives are a historical institution of memory». In his speech, A.E. Tsvetkov spoke about the history of the formation of archives, about the structure of the modern archive system, about the role and importance of archives in society and about the prospects for the development of the industry.
The schoolchildren were shown a film dedicated to the centenary of the archival service of Belarus.
In developing the theme of the lesson, the director of the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents» A.N. Gonchar, who spoke about the archive, about the main work carried out in the institution and about cooperation with educational institutions in the city of Dzerzhinsk and the Dzerzhinsky district.
A.E. Tsvetkov and A.N. Gonchar congratulated the schoolchildren on the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays and presented the children with chocolate «President».
In the second part of the open lesson, an excursion was held, where the children were able to touch the audiovisual heritage of our country from the inside, get acquainted with the earliest photographic documents stored in the archive funds, film and photo equipment, audiovisual information carriers, see the activities carried out by the archive workers to preserve film and photo documents.
