Virtual exhibition «Alesya» – the first opera in the liberated Minsk»
For the Year of Historical Memory and the 100th Anniversary of the Archival Service of Belarus, a virtual exhibition «Alesya» is the first opera in liberated Minsk» has been posted on the website of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art.
The national opera «Alesya» by Y. Tikotsky (later «Dzyachyna z Palessya», libretto by P. Brovka) is the first musical stage work dedicated to the theme of the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. The premiere of the opera took place on December 24, 1944 in the liberated Minsk and became a significant event in the cultural life of Belarus. The history of the creation and staging of the opera «Alesya» («Dzyachyna z Palessya»), spanning more than two decades, is a clear evidence of the difficult work of talented people under the hardships of war and post-war reconstruction.
