On November 23, 2022, a meeting of the Youth Council of the Gomel Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of State and Other Institutions was held, timed to coincide with the Day of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders and the Year of Historical Memory, held on the basis of the institution «Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory»
On November 23, 2022, employees of the institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» Senior Researcher of the Department of Information, Publication and Use of Documents Drozdova A.M. and archivist of the 2nd category Koroleva A.V. took part in the meeting of the Youth Council of the Gomel regional organization of the Belarusian trade union of workers of state and other institutions, dedicated to the Day of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders and the Year of historical memory, held on the basis of the institution «Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory».
For the participants of the meeting, a sightseeing tour of the museum was held, where the researcher of the scientific and educational department Kontsevoy R.V. acquainted with the military history of the Gomel region, from the Early Middle Ages to the present.
After the tour, the invited guests went to the meeting room, where the above-mentioned event took place.
The meeting was opened by the chairman of the Gomel regional organization of the trade union of workers of state and other institutions Bondar M.A. Also, the former chairman of the Gomel regional association of trade unions Barabanov L.V. took part in the meeting. and chairman of the youth council of the Gomel regional organization Legenkiy E.A.
Within the framework of the event, the meeting participants discussed an important historical event – the Day of the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders, a long period of stubborn struggle that fell on the shoulders of our Motherland. We talked about the importance of displaying patriotism and active citizenship for the benefit of our Republic of Belarus, and also shared significant events held within the framework of the Year of Historical Memory on the basis of state institutions of the city.
In continuation of the meeting, the meeting participants visited the state cultural institution «Vetka Museum of Old Believers and Belarusian Traditions named after F.G. Shklyarova». A tour of the museum was conducted by junior researcher Petrishchenko S.I. Among the most valuable exhibits in the museum fund are unique collections of Old Believer icons, rare handwritten and early printed books dating back to the 16th-19th centuries, as well as collections of folk weaving.
At the end of the event, the participants of the round table summed up the above topic, noting the importance of holding such meetings.
