An information hour on the topic «2022 – the Year of Historical Memory» was held with third-year students of the Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor of the State Academy of Veterinary Medicine

Elena Bondareva, head of the department of IPS and automated archival technologies, told the students about the work of archivists to confirm the facts of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), the history of the camp for Soviet prisoners of war and civilians on the territory of the former 5th railway regiment, created by the invaders in September 1941 on the outskirts of Vitebsk. Students also learned about the role of archival institutions in the preservation of documentary heritage, the history of the creation of the veterinary institute, documents from the personal fund of Zhakov Mikhail Stepanovich (10/13/1928 – 11/16/2002) – rector of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine (1968-1995).
