About conducting an excursion for students of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No. 1 of Dzerzhinsk»

On November 2, 2022, employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents organized an excursion for students of grades 6 and 9 of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No. 1 in Dzerzhinsk» for the Year of Historical Memory and as part of the «Archives for School» campaign.

During the tour, students were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the history and main activities of the institution, types of documents stored in the archive, as well as with unique collections of photographs.

The collection of photographs of the military journalist V.I. Arkashev aroused great interest among the tourists. These photographs are a unique and invaluable evidence of the feat of a Soviet soldier during the Great Patriotic War. Viewing a photo album with collections of photographs dedicated to the history of Dzerzhinsk has become a lesson in local history.
The demonstration of the documentary film in the cinema hall of the archive “Biography of my Republic” about the heroism of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War made an indelible impression on the audience.

The work of the workers of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents on the preservation of audiovisual documentary heritage made an indelible impression on the participants of the excursion. The schoolchildren promised to tell their parents and friends about what they saw, and some were interested in the archivist profession itself.
