The Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings opens its doors on the sixth school day
On the sixth school day, September 3, 2022, the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings held a cinema lecture for the 8th grade students of Gymnasium No. 1 in Dzerzhinsk as part of the “Archives for School” campaign. The students got acquainted with the stand exhibition “The Past and the Present of Regional Cities”, learned about the history of the Archives and the specifics of its main activities. The students were presented with photographic documents of the pre-revolutionary period and the Great Patriotic War in the albums from the collections of N. S. Tagrin, V. I. Kaleda, A. M. Bogomolov, E. Tomashevskaya-Radziwill. The students also got a visual idea of the different types of media used to store documents, as well as photo and film equipment. Among the exhibits are photographic film including slides, negatives on glass, 35mm and 16mm film, magnetic tapes, audio tapes, gramophone records, Soviet and prewar cameras, and movie cameras. In the cinema hall of the Archives the students had a lesson-lecture “The Partisan Movement in Belarus in 1941-1944” and the documentary film “Railroad War. Three Strikes” (1983).
