The State Archives of Vitebsk Region conducted a lecture «Archives as a Treasure of Historical Memory» for student detachments of Vitebsk, members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union as part of the national project «Archives: Memory of the Past for the Future»

During the Year of Historical Memory, the Republican Headquarters of Student Detachments of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of Belarus implement the national patriotic project «Archives: Memory of the Past for the Sake of the Future».

The main objective of the project is enlightenment and patriotic education of young people on the basis of the materials of the National Archival Fonds of Belarus.

On 18 August 2022, employees of the State Archives of Vitebsk Region conducted a lecture «Archives as a Treasure of Historical Memory» for student detachments of Vitebsk, members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.

The lecture highlighted the role of archives in the preservation of historical memory and detailed about the methods and ways of searching information, in particular the documents related to the construction and reconstruction of memorials to the participants of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) in our country.

The lecture ended with an excursion to the archive repository.
