The Local State Archives in Orsha took part in the events dedicated to the Day of the liberation of Orsha from the Nazi invaders and the 955th anniversary of the city
On 28 June 1922, employees of the Local State Archives in Orsha visited the exhibition «Orsha – the Heroic City» dedicated to the Day of the liberation of Orsha from the Nazi invaders and the 955th anniversary of the city, which was organized in the Orsha Museum of V. S. Korotkevich.
On 27 June 1944, the city of Orsha was liberated by the troops of the 3rd Belarusian Front during the Vitebsk-Orsha operation. The 41st military unit and the units which had distinguished themselves in the battles for the city were given the honorary title of «Orsha». On the day of liberation, about 3 thousand inhabitants remained in Orsha, and the city was turned into ruins.
The city of Orsha during its existence became the scene of numerous battles, was repeatedly destroyed and devastated. But, despite all the difficulties, it survived and today accepts congratulations on the holiday.
