To the 100th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus
The Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings presents a fragment of documentary film «Trial of the People» (1946) on its official YouTube channel, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian Prosecutor’s Office and in the framework of the Year of Historical Memory.
The film is about the court session of the Military Tribunal of Minsk Military District over the war criminals who committed atrocities on the territory of Belarusian SSR during the Great Patriotic War, which took place in the House of Officers in Minsk from January 15 to 29, 1946.
The sentence was announced on January 29, 1946: 14 of the 18 defendants were sentenced to death; the rest were sentenced to hard labor for 15 to 20 years.
The execution was scheduled for January 30, 1946, at the Minsk Hippodrome.
