Visiting classes and excursion for students and teachers of the Institute of Advanced Studies and Retraining of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus
On 27 May 2022, as part of the cooperation agreement with the Institute of Advanced Studies and Retraining of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus and under the announced Year of Historical Memory in the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Archives of Belarus conducted classes and excursion for students and teachers of the Institute.
The leading researcher V. N. Denisov told the guests about the basic milestones in the history of the National Historical Archives of Belarus, the composition and features of its collections, the most famous criminal and civil cases of the early 20th century held in the archives, the possibilities of using the archive documents in the study of family history. M. D. Makarov, acting deputy director of the Archives, in his speech focused on the peculiarities of investigative activities in the Belarusian towns with Magdeburg Law in the 17th – first half of the 18th centuries. The students and teachers had the opportunity to examine such documents as act books of court institutions of the 16th-18th centuries, personal files of investigators of Minsk District Court and records of preliminary investigation of criminal offenses in the Minsk Province in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century, parish records, confession sheets, census records, family lists. As part of the excursion, the students and teachers visited the archive repositories. After the tour, the Archive’s employees answered the questions of the guests.
