The Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings held an off-site lecture for the personnel of the Training Centre of the Border Guard Service Logistics Group
On 17 April 2022, an off-site lecture was held for the personnel of the Specialist Training Centre of the Border Guard Service Logistics Group.
Each document stored in the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photographs and Sound Recordings is an invaluable historical evidence, the history itself captured in the footage. When studying the film, photo and sound records, the events depicted on them are perceived brighter and stronger. During the lecture, the border guards learned about the history of the Archives, its structure, activities, types of documents and ways of searching for documents.
Of particular interest was the story about the variety of professions needed in the archive industry: designers, restorers, sound recording engineers, video engineers and many others.
During the tour, the servicemen got acquainted with the photos from the collections of N. S. Tagrin and V. I. Kolyada depicting the views of Minsk and other Belarusian cities of the early 20th century. They also viewed photos from the personal collection of Alzbieta Tomashevska-Radziwill, passed by the owner to the Archives in 2009. Greatest interest was aroused by the collection of photographic documents from the collection of A. M. Bogomolov. For modern young people these photos give a chance to see the war and victory through the eyes of a soldier and to walk the streets of liberated Berlin in the spring of 1945.
The personnel of the Specialist Training Center were also shown a documentary film “The Biography of My Republic”. The newsreel footage shocked the audience and encouraged them to share their family stories of the events of the Great Patriotic War.
